To make oil the way it’s meant to be made, slowly, honestly, and without shortcuts, while ensuring the people behind the process are treated fairly and the integrity of the oil is never compromised.
To build a future where good food doesn’t come from speed or scale, but from care, craft, and conscious choices, and where traditional ways of working continue not as memories, but as living systems.
Care over convenience Process before scale Honesty in every step Respect for people and craft
Do you ever forget those summer mornings running through the streets with your friends? Barefoot races, scraped knees and someone shouting your name from a distance. We don’t consider it a memory. We consider it a feeling. Some things stay with us not because they were perfect, but because they were honest.
Mana Ganuga comes from that same place. We are a small, process-first brand built around one belief: when something is done with care, it leaves a mark. On taste. On health. On memory.
We make cold-pressed oils using a traditional wooden ganuga powered by bulls, not machines. Our seeds are sourced directly from farmers, pressed slowly without heat, and packed fresh without preservatives or chemicals.
In a world that rushed food into products, we chose to slow oil back into what it was meant to be. Mana Ganuga exists to protect that choice, for the farmer who grows the seed, for the ganuga operator whose craft still matters, and for the kitchens that deserve better oil.
After cold pressing, oil naturally contains fine seed particles, fibres, and plant gums. If left as they are, these solids settle unevenly, affect aroma over time, and shorten the oil’s usable life.
Unfiltered particles tend to retain moisture and promote oxidation. Over time, this can lead to quicker spoilage and instability. By filtering out moisture-holding residues, the oil stays fresh and stable for significantly longer, without any additives.
Solid residues oxidise faster than pure oil. This can result in bitterness, overpowering smells, and darkening of colour. Gentle filtration slows oxidation and keeps the oil’s taste, aroma, and appearance consistent.
Most people associate clarity with care and hygiene. Cloudy oil is often seen as poorly handled, even when the pressing is good. Filtered oil looks clean, uniform, and considered, the way a carefully made product should.
In certain oils like groundnut and sesame, residual moisture and solids can ferment over time. This may cause bubbles, pressure build-up, or leakage in bottles. Proper filtration prevents these issues, especially important for oils that aren’t consumed immediately.
For oils meant to be transported, stored, and sold responsibly, filtration increases shelf life and structural stability. It also ensures the oil can move safely without compromising its character.
Behind every bottle is a hands-on team. We work directly with farmers, ensuring fair prices without middlemen. We support traditional ganuga operators by giving their skill consistent work. And we oversee every batch ourselves, from pressing to packing.
We are a family-run ganuga oil brand, committed to pressing fresh, pure oils the way it has always been done.
